You guys, we had a super sold out run at The Brick. Saturday night people were sitting on bathmats on the floor. The actors were gorgeous. Scott and his music and Eloise Eonnet who sang with him...gorgeous. Nick Leavens, our fearless director, brought us together in profound ways and was, yes, gorgeous. I rapped in spandex. It was something. And we experienced family and community and dog penises and pica and jokes and feelings and people I love and laughing and more feelings and it was a celebration. Of so many things.
It's the community of it. It's writing for people I love. It's about being inspired. It's about love and family and doing this for the fun of it.
This was the year I got to be grateful and appreciate my life in ways I never could before.
I got to love people. And I got to write.
And I got to write jokes and make people laugh. And I got to write things that made people feel things.
And I got to fall in love with other people's stories.
And I got to have perspective.
And I got to see that it's okay to want what I have right now and also not want this forever.
And so I love the present. And am hopeful for the future. Which makes me feel naive and yet I know the life I have and the person I am depends on it being true.
2014 is over...
I'm still an optimist.
Here are some photos involving animals-real, fake and on t-shirts and my current trip to the great state of North Carolina.
I am an optimist.
